Athletics

Athletics provide learning experiences, a positive base for Christian development and an understanding of competition, emphasizing sportsmanship and teamwork.

Our athletic program would not be possible without all of our parents' help so it is imperative that we all work together to ensure that our program is ran well and cohesively for the benefit of our children.  Parents of children who participate in athletics--volleyball, basketball, or soccer--you are required to complete volunteer hours.  Volunteering is easy; just sign-up when you can in Sign-up Genius. 


Volunteer reminders

  • Once you sign up for a shift, it is YOURS.  If you find out later you cannot complete this shift, do not just go in and delete it, you must FIND SOMEONE to either swap shifts with or fill in your shift.  (This has been a major problem in the past).
  • We need you there the entire time you have signed up.  If you make arrangements with another parent to come in a fill in your time, that is fine, we just need you there the entire time you are scheduled.
  • We have added a setup/breakdown volunteer shift this year.  The setup person will need to come at the time scheduled to help set up the gym (bring down bleachers, set up chairs, set up admission table, help sweep the gym, open doors, etc), once that is complete, you may leave.  The Breakdown person needs to arrive at the gym 30 minutes prior to the end of the shift they are signing up for, they will be helping break the gym down after the games (put the bleachers up, sweep the floors, take out garbage, take chairs down, take down the admission table, etc).  This only takes 15 minutes or so when the game is finished, and with an extra set of hands, we should all be out of the gym within 30 minutes of the end of the game.
  • If you know ahead of time that you will not be able to volunteer for shifts, you can buy out of them for a fee.  Contact Terry Kirby, at kriby@att.net, to find out the cost to do this.
