Get Involved!

Our parents do amazing things to bring our school community together and support each other. Our school is very appreciative of all our devoted parents who generously share their time and talents! Joining a committee is a great way to lend a hand, fulfills family volunteer requirements, and is a great way to meet new friends! All our committees are welcoming new participants.

If you are interested in learning more about a committee, contact the school.

School Advisory Committee

The STAA Advisory Committee is made up of school representatives and committee members that are elected or appointed to three-year terms. The committee advises the pastor(s) and principal on financial, academic, governance, and other strategic leadership matters.

Parents are invited to appear at Advisory Committee meetings for public forums and/or submit agenda topics for discussion by contacting the principal. If you are interested in serving as a member of the School Advisory Committee, please contact the school.

Parent Staff Association (PSA)

STAA's Parent Staff Association bridges school and families together by organizing fun family events to promote a sense of community, reinforce our Catholic values, and serve as a resource of stewardship and communication to families by holding informative meetings throughout the year.

The Parent Staff Association is always open to new volunteers! PSA may be just right for you if you enjoy school community events that are social and fun, if you want to help our school families feel welcome and valued, and if you enjoy planning and organizing parties. Help with one event or all of them!

Feel free to contact the school if you’re interested in participating. We have regular meetings once per month.

Athletics Committee

Working with the Bay View Parochial Soccer League and Parkview Volleyball and Basketball Leagues, the Athletics Committee oversees scheduling of games and tournaments, hands out uniforms, recruits coaches and gym volunteers, operates a concession stand, maintains the integrity of the gym and sporting equipment, and coordinates fundraising, tournaments, and banquets.

New members are always welcome! Please consider joining our team if you love sports and spend a lot of time watching basketball, soccer, and volleyball, believe that playing a sport is an important part of a well-rounded education, and can commit time over some weekends to help at sporting events when needed.

"Athletics provide learning experiences, a positive base for Christian development and an understanding of competition, emphasizing sportsmanship and teamwork."

Join us! Meetings are held each month.

Marketing Committee

The goal of the St. Thomas Aquinas Academy Marketing Committee is to increase enrollment, maximize student retention and promote community awareness of our amazing school. Through community outreach, advertising, graphic design, social media, and other marketing efforts, the Marketing Committee strives to inform current families, new families, prospective families, and parishioners of school events, daily happenings, and strategic plans.

Initiatives include flyers, social media graphics, logo redesign, official branding, giveaways, posters, outdoor and indoor signage, and communication campaigns for:

  • Catholic Schools Week

  • STAA Open House

  • One-on-One Family Tours

  • Chill on the Hill Community Night

  • STAA Community Night

The Marketing Committee is made up of school parents and parishioners with communication, marketing, writing, and graphic design skills, and we meet through Zoom once a month. If you’re interested in sharing your talents to help grow the school to its fullest potential, please connect with us!

Girl Scouts/Boy Scouts

Volunteer to work with our Girl or Boy Scout troops. We are always looking for talented parents to show our troops how to build something, make something, create an art project, or teach them something new. Help our girls and boys build self-confidence, self-worth, and leadership skills.

Room Parents

Room parents are a vital part of the classroom. Room parent volunteers may assist with school activities throughout the school year, including planning classroom activities at the teacher's invitation, helping with all-school activities, assisting with special projects, and more.

We encourage your support in helping make your child's school experience a positive one. To find out how you can participate, contact your child's teacher.

Chaperoning

There are several opportunities throughout the school year for parents to assist as chaperones on field trips. Chaperones must complete the Safe Environment Education (SEE) training and have a criminal background check before participating (see below for more details).

Miscellaneous Volunteer Opportunities

If you can't volunteer for a committee, we have quick and easy volunteer opportunities throughout the year, including:

  • Coaching a sports team

  • Be part of a committee

  • Working concessions/admissions at a sporting event

  • Help plan/organize a school event or fundraiser

  • Participate in a school event, like Trunk or Treat

  • Help set-up, clean-up, or serve food at an event

  • Participate with a parish dinner

  • Donate food or other items for an event

  • Participate in the Catholic Schools Walk

  • Help out at Field Day

Safe Environment Education

In keeping with the Archdiocese requirements, all adults who chaperone must attend Safe Environment Education (SEE). This is also referred to as Safeguarding All of God's Family. SEE is designed to assist the church in being a safe haven for children and teaches adults to understand and recognize the warning signs of abuse, help control access to our children, and speak responsibly about their concerns.
